Boxing is a sport in which two people use their fists for attack and defense, following specific rules. Boxing matches are watched with great interest in many countries around the world.
Boxing matches take place in a ring. The ring is a square-shaped area surrounded by three rows of ropes and raised above the ground. In professional boxing, the ring is 5-6 square meters in size, while in amateur boxing, it is at least 3-6 square meters. In boxing matches, both boxers must be of the same weight.
The rules of professional and amateur boxing differ. Amateur boxers wear gloves weighing 227 grams, while professional boxers wear gloves weighing between 170 and 283 grams. Professional boxers wear only shorts, while amateur boxers wear shorts and a singlet. Both amateur and professional boxers wear mouth and groin guards during matches. Amateur boxers may also wear protective headgear (helmet).
